Finding What You Didn't Lose:

Using his text as guide, participants gently and gradually learn the elements of poem-making by exploring their own inner truths and sharing their discoveries in a gentle, supportive, non-judgmental writing group atmosphere. The group is limited to ten participants. The cost for the course is $275 for the 10 or 15 week formats, or $350 for the intensive. Course cost includes a copy of the text and additional handouts; however, in some cases location rental may entail additional fees. For more information about the class or to discuss arrangements, call (512) 585-1170 or send e-mail to frederick@InnerSessions.net.

The class can be presented in any of the following three formats: a ten week format that meets once a week for 3 hours; a fifteen week format, meeting 2 hours per week; or an intensive five-day course, meeting daily for two 3-hour sessions. Please note that the intensive most often occurs in retreat settings, which can entail additional charges.

Writing for the Health of It:

On the Psychological and Physiological Health Benefits of Writing

This workshop introduces the growing body of research (now totalling over 200 juried articles) inspired by the work of Dr. James Pennebaker from the University of Texas. Find out how writing about long-buried traumatic experiences can increase T-cell lymphocyte counts in the blood and other research supporting the health benefits of certain writing protocols. The presentation also covers basic brain physiology related to trauma and current thinking on how and why language is so essential in the healing process. In addition, participants will also engage in some related writing exercises derived from Kathleen Adams' best-selling guide Journal to the Self: 22 Paths to Self Discovery. The presentation/workshop is a comfortable mix of clearly presented information and experiential exercises. The workshop is available in either live format or as a telecourse. Groups, organizations, and institutions interested in this presentation are invited to contact Frederick at (512) 585-1170 or via e-mail at <frederick@InnerSessions.net.

The Astrology of Embodiment

Exploring the Planetary Energies Alive Within You

In this embodied introduction to the symbolic principles of humanistic astrology, participants explore how aspects of our personalities correspond to the "planetary energies," and how these express themselves in our inner and outer experience. Through art play, writing, movement, guided imagery, and process discussion, we'll learn the strengths and challenges that the Sun, Moon, and all the planets bring us. We'll also explore how best to focus these energies for success and how to redirect or appease them when they sabotage our goals or interfere with our desires.

The course runs for three months with a 3 hour meeting once each week. The cost is $200 per month for a total of $600, which includes a copy of the text and a printout and cursory introductory reading of your individual chart. To register, send a $100 deposit, along with your full name, birth date, birth time, and birth location (city and state, province, and country, if other than the US, to "Frederick Bryan," Inner Sessions, 3112 Windsor Rd. #A232, Austin, TX 78703. For more information about the class, call (512) 585-1170 or via e-mail at frederick@InnerSessions.net.

On-going Developmental Poetry Exploration Groups

These poetry-based personal growth groups are designed to encourage experimentation in writing and speaking honestly and authentically, within the context of a gentle, safe, and supportive group. Of course, meeting ourselves authentically and sharing with others requires the risk of exploring our way of being and the full range of our humanness. Such intimacy can stir a wide breadth of feelings, old and new. Such a committed activity requires a readiness on the part of the individual. For this reason, those wishing to attend who have not had previous classes, workshops, or telecourses with me should arrange an intake interview. In addition, anyone presently in therapy will want to consult with his or her therapist prior to making an appointment for an intake interview. In many cases, some communication between myself and your individual therapist may prove desireable. If you are planning to participate in a writing group, please consult your therapist and have him or her give me a call. Together, the three of us can determine whether a particular group is appropriate for you.

These groups require a three (3) month minimum commitment. If you would like to be considered for a group, please contact me to set up an intake interview. Frederick (512) 585-1170 or e-mail frederick@InnerSessions.net.
